Wae Rebo, Traditional House from NTT



Wae Rebo is a traditional village in the rural hamlets disebuah Satar Lens, District Satarmese West Manggarai East Nusa Tenggara Province. Located at an altitude of 1000 above sea level, dekelilingi hills and beautiful forests, the village is often shrouded in fog when viewed from a distance. Worth if called village above the clouds.
To achieve Wae Rebo, must traverse pristine forests. Accompanied by a lush forest satwanya complete. When you enter the forest, will be greeted with singing birds that seemed to contribute Pacycepal accompany your steps. Wae Rebo custom home is known as the 'Mbaru Niang' (conical round house). Mbaru niang consists of 5 levels. Each level has its own function. The first level is 'Lutur' which means tent.
This level is used as a residence community. The second level is the 'Lobo' the loft that serves storing food and goods - other items. The third level is 'lentar' used to save seeds - seeds such as corn, rice and beans - beans, and others. The fourth level 'Lempa Rae' as a reserve food stocks are used when there is crop failure or prolonged drought. The fifth level is the 'Hekang Code' which is used to store langkar, which is a kind of woven bamboo rectangular dedicated to saving offerings for the ancestors.
