Poco-poco dance is a kind of dances
original from Indonesia,
which many used as the basic movements in rhythmic
gymnastics. This dance took
elements of dance moves from various regions in
Indonesia. Therefore, at this dance can be encountered such as javelin throwing motion, release the
arrow and so forth because these movements found in many local dances
in Indonesia. Poco-poco dance became
popular in the early 2000s. At first, Poco-Poco dances known
only within the military
and police as a motion for rhythmic gymnastics.
This dance is accompanied by
song which originated
from Maluku who
also called poco-poco. Poco-poco song created by songwriter, from Ambon named
Arie Sapulette.
Basic movement poco-poco dance is
relatively easy so it is favored by the people. In fact, poco-poco dance then
used as a kind of rhythmic gymnastics by schoolchildren in Indonesia. Poco-poco
dance moves are two small steps to the right, back to the place, then go back
one or two steps backward, then forward while spinning. And so on, the movement
is repeated. The principle is to rotate the whole body to the winds and then back
into place.
Currently, poco-poco dance has grown rapidly so that it has about 50 variations of movement.
Musical accompaniment was a wide range, from poco-poco musical accompaniment version dangdut house music (disco) to cha-cha.
