Talempong
is a typical musical instrument Minangkabau, North Sumatra. The shape is almost the same as the
gamelan of Java. Talempong be made of brass, some are made of wood and
stone, this time talempong of brass which is more widely used. This Talempong
circular holes on the bottom while the top there is a prominent roundabout five
centimeters in diameter as the scales (different).
The
sound produced from a pair of wood struck on surface. Talempong usually used to
accompany dance typical dishes, Pasambahan dance, and dance wave. Talempong
also used to welcome special guests.
