The mask dance is one of traditional
dances from Cirebon, West Java. The
dance created by the Sultan of Cirebon, his name is Sunan Gunung Jati. The dancers
should use the masks when they are dancing, so that, it called the mask dance.
This dance performed by one and some beautiful women and ten men who play the
musical instruments, such as rebab, kecrek, kulanter, ketuk, gendang, gong, and
bendhe. The movement of the dance is always changing, it depends on the theme
of the event. The dance starts from the bow formation. It means as the sign of
the respect for the audience. After that, the legs of the dancers are moving
back and forth while smiling to the audience.
West java is one of the strategic city
which many visited by the tourists. They like to watch the dance when the big
events held in this city. It can be a good dance that owned by Indonesia and we
have to maintain and preserve it.
