Rumah gadang (Minangkabau: "big house") is the
traditional house of the Minangkabau. This house from Sumatera Barat. The
architecture, construction, internal and external decoration, and the functions
of the house that reflect the culture and values of the Minangkabau. The Gadang
house usually used as a residence, a hall for family meetings, and for
ceremonial activities.
The term of Gadanga house usually refers to the larger
general homes. However, smaller residences that consist many of architectural
elements. This traditional house can be an interest place, and many tourists
who visit there. So, we as the younger generations should preserve the art of our country, such
as this traditional house.
