Sapek (another name: sampek, sampiq) is a stringed musical instrument in the
Dayak in Kalimantan, the countries of Indonesia. Of the hundreds of community
groups (ethnic) and sub-ethnic Dayak, sapek most abundant in wealth and Dayak
Kenyah.
Very different from the guitar,
the fret (boundary tone, the local term
called lasar) whose
number was only 2-3 dozen, even sometimes none
at all which is located in
the neck. However, the instrument looks like
a guitar, with a long body and neck are very
short - probably the
shortest neck lute instrument in the world.
Sapek usually played as a solitary instrument (music only) or also for dance
accompaniment. Sapek is one Dayak music special. Although many people can play,
but the players in particular have a special technique too, has its own way for
the left hand fingers (on the move played tones) and his right hand picking.
